Make Money and Get Free Stuff Using Your iPad and iPhone - Email Encryption Part 2 - Podcast Websites
June 2014 Meeting

Come join us as at our June monthly meeting where we'll be featuring the following presentations:

Bruce Mittelman will be talking about apps and services that allow you to make money and get free stuff using your iPhone, iPad and Mac.

Jerry Glacken will be presenting part 2 of his presentation on email encryption using GPG and Apple Mail. He'll give a brief recap of the information presented at last month's meeting and will be covering more about encrypting, decrypting and signing email communications

Louis Perez will give another installment of his ongoing "Magical Mystery Tour of the Web" which showcases a collection of interesting and useful websites related to a particular topic. This month's tour will focus on the "Top Podcast Websites".

Plus, we'll be discussing Apple's recently announced Mac OS X Yosemite operating system and iOS8.

Tech vs. Wild: Surviving Your Next Campout With High-Tech Gear - Email Encryption
May 2014 Meeting

If you think that all you need for camping is a backpack, tent, some food, water, and pocket knife then it's time to join the 21st century. Come join us as Mac Observer Contributing Editor, TrailCamper.com publisher, and former NJMUG member, Chuck La Tournous gives a fun, fast-paced look at the gadgets that can turn you into a high tech version of Mick Dodge.

From how to turn your iPhone into a Swiss Army knife and full featured GPS receiver, purify water with a beam of light, and charge your gear with using the sun or fire, Chuck will talk about all the gear you can take with you to enhance your next camping trip.

Our second presenter of the evening will be Jerry Glacken who will give a demonstration on how to encrypt and secure your email communications using GPG. From installation, creating and distributing keys, encrypting, decrypting, and signing, Jerry will show you everything you need to know to keep your email communications private.

Reunion - Mac Maintenance - Heartbleed - Vacation Websites
April 2014 Meeting

What better way to end Tax Day 2014 than to attend our April general meeting where we'll be featuring the following presentations:

George Ajjan will give a demonstration of the Reunion, genealogy (family tree) application. Reunion makes it easy to document and display information about your family’s ancestors, descendants, cousins, etc. and to display the family relationships in an elegant, graphic form.

Next, Bruce Mittelman will give a demonstration of two staple Mac maintenance programs: AppleJack and DiskWarrior. AppleJack is a command-line utility that makes a number of troubleshooting procedures available via singler-user mode at startup. And it makes these procedures easy to perform for the common Mac user. DiskWarrior is a powerful utility which prevents and resolves hard disk directory damage, allowing you to recover files, folders, and other data.

Finally, Louis Perez will give another installment of his “Magical Mystery Tour of the Web” which provides a variety of interesting Web sites pertaining to a particular topic. This month’s “tour” will focus on “Vacation Web sites”.

Blu-Ray Burners - PLEX Media Server - Bitcoin - Video Websites

Come join us at our March general meeting where we'll feature the following presentations:

Allan Warner and Bob Helmond will show the latest Blu-ray burners. Blu-ray is an optical disc format that was designed to supersede the DVD format and offers a storage capacity of 25GB per layer. Allan and Bob will show you everything you need to know about this exciting new format.

Bruce Mittelman will give an overview of Plex, the free media server that simplifies your life by organizing all of your personal media and allows you to stream it to all of your devices.

Bob Helmond who will be discussing Bitcoin and how it works. Bitcoin is a virtual cryptocurrency that uses peer-to-peer technology to facilitate instant payments and cryptography to make it difficult to counterfeit.

Our final presenter of the evening will be Louis Perez who will give another installment of the "Magical Mystery Tour of the Web" which provides a collection of interesting Web sites based around a particular topic. This month's "tour" will offer a an assortment of interesting "Video Web sites".

Mavericks Overview - Bitcoin - Tutorial Websites - "After" Holiday Party

Third times the charm? Or is it three strikes and we're out? December meeting was cancelled due to snow. January meeting was cancelled due to snow. Will Mother Nature cut us some slack and let us hold our February meeting?

Just when you thought the holidays were over, we'll be having our twice cancelled Holiday party and meeting. We'll eat, drink, talk and learn all about new and interesting technologies. And of course we'll be raffling off goodies. It'll be just like December, only in February!

This month - provided Mother Nature doesn't once again rear her ugly head - we'll be featuring the following presentations:

Bruce Mittelman will be giving an overview of Apple's newest computer operating system, Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks. With over 200 new features, Mavericks adds new features and capabilities to everything from apps you use everyday to the technologies that power your Mac. All of which makes Mavericks the most advanced Mac operating system to date.
