LucidCam VR - Lynda.com - Latest Summer Tech

Bruce Mittelman will give a demonstration of the LucidCam VR, the pocket-sized Virtual Reality camera that captures 180-degree videos in 3D.

Mark Astmann will give a presentation of Lynda.com, the online training library that offers nearly 6 thousand courses in business, technology, and creative skills which are taught by industry experts.

Louis Perez will give another installment of his popular "Magical Mystery Tour of the Web" where he presents a collection of interesting and useful site from around the web. This month's topic will center on "New Summer Technology".

SuperDuper! - Carbon Copy Cloner - ChronoSync - TimeMachine - 3 Things To Know

This month we'll focus on one of the most important computer topics: backing up you data. Bruce Mittelman, Mark Astmann, Jerry Glacken, and "He who cannot be named" will give demonstrations of some of the best backup utilities for the Macintosh: SuperDuper!, Carbon Copy Cloner, Time Machine, and ChronoSync.

George Ajjan will give another installment of "Three Things To Know On Your Mac" in which he'll show interesting tips and tricks that anyone can use to improve their Macintosh workflows.

Online Photo Storage - Snagit - Datacolor Spyder 5 - Welcome Back Party

The Allwwod library renovations are finally completed and we'll be back in our usual meeting location. To celebrate our return, we'll have cake, cookies, snacks and drinks for everyone to enjoy.

Plus we'll be featuring the following presentations:

Bruce Mittelman will give a talk about the best online services for displaying and storing your photos. He'll discuss the benefits of using a dedicated photo service, their various features, costs, and pretty much everything you need to know to store and display your photos like a pro.

Mark Astmann will give a demonstration of Snagit, the complete tool for screen capture and video recording on the Mac. Snagit combines traditional screenshots, video recording, image editing, and file sharing in an easy to use application.

Bob Helmond will show you how to calibrate your monitor using the Displays System Preferences Pane and the Datacolor Spyder 5. The Spyder 5 is a simple to use color calibration device that enables you to easily calibrate monitors for accurate on screen colors and better print matching.

Apple Airpods - HooToo Router - Mac Security Tools - Interesting Websites

Bruce Mittelman will give a quick demonstration of the Apple AirPods wireless headphones.

Mark Astmann will give a demonstration of the HooToo portable travel router. This small, lightweight router can instantly convert a wired network to wireless and can easily bridge an existing wireless network and create your own secure Wi-Fi network.

Jerry Glacken will three security tools by Objective-See: Knock Knock - an application that discovers what's persistently installed on your Mac in order to generically reveal malware, TaskExplorer - an application to visually explore all running tasks/processes on your Mac and verifies them with VirusTotal, and OverSight - an application that monitors a Mac's microphone and webcam and alerts you whenever they are activated.

Google Chrome Extensions - Facebook Groups - Highlights & Gadgets Of CES

Bruce Mittelman will give an overview of popular extensions for Google Chrome. The following extensions will be presented: Adotepb, Scenecastify, CheckerPlus, Hover Zoom, Lazarus, Assistant.To, Carmelizer, and Invisible Hand.

Geoff Gove will discuss Facebook Groups, which allow you to create an online community around a common interest where people can communicate, share, and interact. Geoff will be discussing the creation of a new NJMUG Facebook group on which our members can interact with each other between meetings.

Two-Factor Authentication - Luminar - HooToo Router - 3 Things To Know

Jerry Glacken will give a presentation on protecting the security of your accounts using Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). Traditionally passwords have usually been sufficient for preventing unauthorized access to your online accounts, but as computing technology gets better, passwords are quickly becoming obsolete. Jerry will discuss what two-factor authentication is, what you need, and how to set it up on all of your online accounts.
